ProtectServer Blue is an ITSEC certified PCI adapter based Hardware Security Module - HSM that you can install in server
systems as a cryptographic subsystem to perform symmetric and asymmetric cryptography. All cryptographic operations that
would otherwise be performed on the insecure server are processed within the physically secure HSM ensuring sensitive keys
are always protected from compromise.
ProtectServer Blue is typically employed to provide cryptographic services such as high-speed bulk encryption, user and data
authentication, message integrity, secure key storage and management for E-commerce, PKI and Financial Security applications.

Security
ProtectServer Blue performs efficient DES, 3DES and RSA cryptographic processing plus provides physical and logical protection to highly sensitive information such as cryptographic keys. Tamper resistant secure casing triggering automatic cryptographic key erasure upon tamper detection, plus battery backed secure key storage, ensure a high level of secrecy/integrity of keys and sensitive data.
Performance
Specialised cryptographic electronics, including a dedicated data cipher microprocessor, memory, and a random number generator, perform high-speed security-sensitive processing and storage of confidential keys. This facilitates high speed bulk symmetric encryption processing easing the cryptographic processing load of the host system and freeing your server to respond to more requests.
Extensive APIs
SafeNet Inc. delivers one of the most comprehensive portfolios of cryptographic APIs in the market place.
They enable users to seamlessly integrate cryptography and HSMs into a large range of host-based pre-integrated
third-party solutions, or custom applications developed by the client.
The portfolio includes the broadest suite of PKCS#11 function sets available on the market, a Java JCA/JCE provider
implementation, plus the proprietary crypto APIs providing symmetric cryptography and key storage (ProtectToolkit ESA)
and asymmetric cryptography (ProtectToolkit RSA).
In addition, the Software Development Kit, ProtectProcessing, enables customised development, debugging and download of
custom specific Secure Application Modules (SAMs) inside the secure boundary of the HSM.
Easy Management
ProtectServer Blue provides secure, easy to perform local and remote management plus infield servicing. Easy interaction and key management are achieved using a Java-based GUI or a command-line interface. Optional remote network access to the HSM facilitates increased administration convenience, plus reduced cost and time. Smart cards provide the highest security and administrative convenience for secure backup, recovery and transfer of cryptographic keys. Upgrades via secure firmware download can be cost efficiently performed at the in-field location eliminating the need to disassemble the unit, or the cost to return the product to the service location.
